The faith of Jesus

Lesson 7

What the Bible teaches about Salvation

Terrible consequences of sin

1. What is the final consequence of sin? (Romans 5:12)
12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

2. Can man solve the problem of sin? (Jeremiah 2:22)
For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, Yet your iniquity is marked before Me,” says the Lord GOD

Jesus saves the sinner

3. What provision did God make to save man? (John 3:16)
16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

4. How does Jesus describe his mission? (Luke 19:10)
10For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

5.  Did Jesus commit any sin?(Hebrews 4:15)
15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

6. How did Jesus pay the debt of man? (Isaiah 53:3-7)
3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.  4Surely he hath borne our grief’s, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  6All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.  7He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

7. What act secured our salvation? (1 Corinthians 15:20-22)

20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

What should I do?

8. Believe in Jesus (Acts 16:30, 31)
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?  31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

9. Accept Jesus as my only Savior (Acts 4:12)
12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

10. Open the door to my heart (Revelation 3:20)
20Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

My resolution

I believe that Jesus died for me. I accept Him as my only Savior. I give him my life and my heart.
