The Faith of Jesus
The faith of Jesus
What the Bible teaches about of prayer and faith
1. How do we communicate with God? (Daniel 9:3)
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.
2. What is prayer? (1Samuel 1:9-15)
1:9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD. 1:10 and she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. 1:11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. 1:12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth. 1:13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. 1:14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. 1:15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.
3. How much power does sincere prayer have? (James 5:16)
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
4. In whose name should we pray? (John 16:24)
24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
5. Does God answer prayers? (Matthew 7:7-11)
7:7 Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 7:10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
6. What is faith? (Hebrew 11:1-6)
1- Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2- For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. 3- By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. 4- By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks. 5- By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”;[a] for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6-But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
7. How is faith developed? (Romans 10:17)
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
What should I do?
8. Pray three times a day (Psalms 55:17)
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
9. Practice private praying (Matthew 6:6)
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
10. Request convenient things (James 4:3)
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
11. Ask with faith (Matthew 21:22)
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
I believe that God hears and answers prayer. I am determined to pray every day with faith.
